Business Week have a
very interesting article about a new workforce: work from home mom.
Working women who today feel compelled to make the
hard choice between children and careers will not have to choose if
they opt to work at home. Teleworking, especially in the call center
industry, provides a way for working women to capitalize on years of
specialized industry experience and career building while meeting the
demands of child rearing.
With flexible schedules, part-time
hours, and fully wired home offices, women can remain engaged in the
workforce while still managing family responsibilities. The part-time,
educated, home-based workforce represents a powerful shift in the U.S.
economy.
Several factors have converged to make home-based work
the emerging model for specialized customer care: Advanced technology,
streamlined business processes, and a new generation of corporate
managers who embrace "virtual servicing" as a results-oriented and
efficient strategy. Today, more than 100,000 customer-service
representatives work from home, and IDC predicts that by 2010 the
number will exceed 300,000.

So, back from the beautiful land. The weather man was really kind over
the weekend, plenty of SUN and no rain. It was a bit windy so it's cold.
We stayed in a korean house which served us with korean breakfast. One
of a kind experience, they gave me something called "Kim Chi" which is
vegetables with loads of chilli. It made me cry of spicyness, haha.
Accomplishment includes climbing up to the top of
Salibury Craigs hill and we went to
firth of forth. Oh, not to mention
Haggis, a so-called Scottish favourite meal.
Apart from all the enjoyment, me and AG was arguing the whole time about non-existing problems. It's just really stupid.

I've decided to stay overnight over at the uni computer clusters, hoping to gain some quiet and peace over night to catch on some work.
(It's generally a good idea because uni computers tend to be warmer than my room and there's the internet to keep me entertained.)
Wrong. For some odd reason, it wasn't just me who decided to stay overnight at the uni computer. It was so freaking noisy for the past five hours (it's 630am now). And it's still noisy now. It appears it isn't just me who decided to stay overnight in uni to catch up on work... everybody else is...
oh, and it isn't any major deadline tomorrow, what'll happen when it IS the deadline tomorrow? The high street of Manchester?
